Displayed decimal places change the appearance of a number, not its stored precision.

Keep a transferable copy of your bookmarks

An HTML export moves bookmarks between browsers. It is not a backup of passwords or your entire browser profile.

  1. Open Bookmarks, then Manage bookmarks.
  2. In the Library, choose Import and Backup, then Export Bookmarks to HTML.
  3. Save the file somewhere you can find again. Keep it private if your saved links contain personal information.

Bring saved bookmarks into Firefox

HTML import adds bookmarks to those already present, so duplicates are possible. Restoring a Firefox JSON backup is a different operation that can replace bookmarks.

  1. Back up your existing bookmarks from the Library’s Import and Backup menu.
  2. Choose Import Bookmarks from HTML and open the saved HTML file.
  3. Look for the added links in the Bookmarks Menu and check a few of them.

Make an article easier to read

Reader View is offered only on compatible pages. It does not make a restricted article publicly available.

  1. Look for the Reader View icon in the address bar and select it when available.
  2. Use its text and theme controls to adjust size, spacing and background.
  3. Select the icon again or go back to return to the original page.

Print an article with less clutter

Simplified format is not available for every page. Check the preview for missing content before printing.

  1. Open Print from the Firefox menu, then More settings.
  2. Under Format, select Simplified if offered.
  3. Review the preview and print. You can also enter Reader View first, then open Print.

Make a starter from flour and water

Allow several days of regular feeding. Readiness depends on activity, not just the day on the calendar.

  1. Read the day-by-day guide and gather a roomy container, flour, water and preferably a gram scale.
  2. Follow the feeding schedule and watch how the starter changes.
  3. Use the guide’s signs of readiness before moving on to bread.

Turn an active starter into a loaf

Keeping a starter alive and preparing it to raise bread are different jobs. This recipe relies on an active starter for its rise.

  1. Check the starter’s readiness against the guide before measuring the ingredients.
  2. Follow the illustrated sequence for mixing, resting, kneading, folding and shaping.
  3. Use the recipe’s proofing and baking directions, and retain starter for the next bake.

Keep your starter between baking days

Storage changes the feeding schedule: this guide recommends weekly feeding in the refrigerator and twice-daily feeding at room temperature.

  1. Choose the storage method that matches how often you bake.
  2. Follow the guide’s feeding quantities, using weight for consistency.
  3. Before baking again, allow time for feeding until the starter is active enough for your recipe.
