WrenBot

Wren is a search engine for the readable web. WrenBot crawls pages so they can be found, and sends readers to your site.

Identifying it

User agent: WrenBot/0.1 (+https://wren.is/bot)

Requests are cryptographically signed using Web Bot Auth (RFC 9421 HTTP Message Signatures). Our key directory is at /.well-known/http-message-signatures-directory. The signature is the reliable check — a user-agent string alone can be spoofed by anyone.

What it does

• Obeys robots.txt, including crawl-delay.
• Keeps request rates low and backs off on errors.
• Collects page text and load characteristics to judge readability. It does not collect personal data, and it does not train models.
• Is a search crawler only — it is not an agent or a training crawler.

Opting out

Disallow WrenBot in robots.txt and it will stop. Pages that are already excluded stay excluded.
