I recently got a new phone, the LightPhone III, a minimalist smartphone. It doesn’t do a lot, you can’t browse the web, there is no social media, it does basic SMS. But it also does a lot, calendar (connects to your Google calendar), you can look up businesses, maps with turn-by-turn, and a very nice camera.
I am honestly not sure how it’s going to fit into my life, I can’t get rid of my iPhone because I need certain apps for work, I use it to keep up with friends (on Signal), scan social, weather, and keeping up on current events. These are all important things. But they are also things I can do on my laptop, which I am in front of all day.
My plan is right now to use both devices, trying to leave the iPhone behind when I am hanging out with friends or with the little one. I can still reach people via a text or call and even find my way around if needed, which is really all I need.
One thing that I really do love about the LightPhone is the camera, I think I might like it more than my iPhone 14 pro camera. It has an almost vintage feel, the colors are wonderful, it’s not super sharp like a lot of the smartphones these days too (the rose picture and Katie were taken with the LightPhone).

Probably the things that would make me switch completely would be weather and Signal.
Anyway, I’ll keep posting updates, and more photos with it.
